The President Invites Families of Shot National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both members of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Community members assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in DC.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that instructors wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Policy Revisions

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy prompted the administration to halt asylum processing and halt granting entry permits to owners of travel documents.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor mentioned on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed the program that she planned to meet with his relatives.

Impact of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
