Around Twelve ancient objects were formally returned to Ethiopia following being kept by a family in Germany for in excess of 100 years.

These items, originally collected in the 1920s by the German diplomat to Ethiopia Franz Weiss and his wife his partner, were handed over on this past Wednesday to the Ethiopian Studies Institute at the capital's university.

This assortment featured crowns, armor and canvases, all viewed as culturally significant in Ethiopia.

"These treasures still represent a symbol of the enduring and amicable ties between Germany and Ethiopia," remarked Ferdinand von Weyhe, Germany's envoy to the East African country.

Professor a professor, whose parent was delivered during the family's service in Ethiopia, presented the objects at a ceremony witnessed by Tourism Minister Selamawit Kassa.

He stated that the family's goal to restore the treasures was to "showcase their beauty with the people and safeguard the heritage and history connected to my parent's origin."

These artefacts were either gifts or buys, according to the relatives.

"I want to express gratitude to the Weiss family for actively demonstrating their sincere love for the nation by meticulously preserving these items and crucially ensuring their homecoming to their legitimate nation," stated the minister of tourism.

The minister continued that the artefacts would in the near future be made accessible to the public for research and educational purposes, calling the move a milestone in protecting Ethiopia's cultural heritage.

"Initiatives will continue to bring back historical artifacts that are held in the hands of private persons and entities throughout the globe," the minister stated.

During colonial rule in the African continent, numerous of cultural objects were plundered.

The call by African countries for the restoration of taken artefacts has been responded to by some success in the past few years - though a number of objects are merely on short-term display.

In the year 2022, the German government was the initial country to repatriate a portion of the famous historical items to the West African nation in an attempt to deal with its "complex colonial history."
