That Grisly Animated Movie Ending That Haunts Fans

Out of every adult-oriented cartoon movies I have ever watched, nothing has lingered in my mind quite like the fear-filled conclusion of a graphically gory as well as highly provocative 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, this Spanish writer-director developed a grim, somber and frequently brutal universe with several minor , forlorn hints of optimism.

Although Unicorn Wars appears as it stemmed from a desire to expand the medium even more, the director clarified that it was actually an attempt to express a universal, cross-cultural message regarding “the common origin of each battle.”

That idea is expressed through a group of vividly colored bears , openly inspired by a famous line of cuddly characters.

Maturing in a community centered on militarism as well as the military-industrial complex, numerous these creatures are fixated on exterminating unicorns, thanks to a holy book that tells them they previously were masters of the forest, before the horned beings expelled them.

Others did not entirely fallen for the indoctrination, , choose to try out substances or mate outdoors.

Unlike their friendly counterparts, these bright beings have visible sexual organs , obvious sex drives.

For a certain particularly cruel, cynical bear, the bear named Bluey, the war against unicorns turns into a path toward dominance — and especially to authority above his gentler, more compassionate sibling the bear Tubby.

The character acts as a tormentor , an obvious sociopath , and when terror overcomes his group and claims his comrades one by one, he grabs more and more control personally, in increasingly gory, damaging approaches.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are experiencing their own horror, as a growing, harmful creature in their woods.

“In the early stages, it appears as a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker said. “But then it becomes a more serious and sorrowful film. And ultimately, it’s a horror film.”

Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like among the playful films by a renowned animator, that discover a mischievous joy in permitting cartoon characters swear, shoot each other, or engage sexually.

Afterward it evolves into more akin to a bleaker movie by that same creator, with increasingly explicit brutality and a tangible connection to the real tragedy of conflict.

In the finale, it’s a full-on Grand Guignol massacre.

The fear which makes this a Halloween-friendly viewing kicks in well before than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is ideal for the most dedicated fans of gore, for enthusiasts of intense movies who desire to watch a movie they have not viewed until now, and who can handle a narrative that pulls absolutely no punches.

Watch it in a dark room free from interruptions, and the finale will dig deep within you and take up residence there.
