Netflix Selects Perfect Actor for Mr. 2 in One Piece Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is set to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the real showdown won’t unfold until season 3, and a adored, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.

The platform declared recently that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will play Bentham. The role has the ability to transform into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a version of that figure reinterpreted as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the live-action series, unlike the initial comic and anime.

Escola will work alongside several other recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to reality, featuring leader Sir Crocodile, played by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Even though the role is a major member of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the second season set to cover the Little Garden segment, this represents a notable change in the timing of their first appearance, one that could signal further changes to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the character. In addition to their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for writing and starring in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
