Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
