Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault ā comprising some against children younger than 13 ā between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official stated, āLegal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.ā
The Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a ācomplex investigationā into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
