Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group access areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them few options but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
