A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
